CFA Radio Replacement Project (RRP)

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) presently has a project underway to replace their Motorola stock with new Tait radios. The new Tait radios will support both analogue and P25 protocols, this will pave the way for planned changes to the CFA's channel map, a task being undertaken with the Department of Sustainability & Environment (DSE) who also have RRP underway, in the future including the addition of P25 digital channels.

The Tait radios were selected in 2010 after a tender process and the TM9100 and TP9100 family of radios were chosen.

The new channel table, in time this will include the new P25 digital channels that are planned. The CFA & DSE have agreed that part of the current 250 channel analogue configuration will remain in the new radios as a baseline for interagency operability.

The CFA plans on moving to the new digital channels once it's Regional Dispatch Network Project, a separate project running concurrently, is complete. Furthermore it is envisaged that the State Emergency Service (SES) will then migrate from their current UHF Network to some of the existing 250 conventional channel allocation.

What are the Digital (P25) frequencies?

Initially the project is using the following for P25 transmissions;
Channel: 256 Radio Label: 004A Frequency: 161.1125
